THE NUTCRACKER’S DREAM
Back by popular demand at the prestigious Teatro Studio “Mila Pieralli” in Scandicci The Nutcracker’s Dream, the Show – Concert freely based on the famous story by E.T.A. Hoffmann: a piano and a magical Christmas tale are all the ingredients to rediscover the magic of theater in the winter event produced by the Art-U Association.
The show, which will be staged on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 December 2022 at 17.30, tells the famous Christmas tale by focusing on the inner aspects of Marie, a little girl who does not want to give up on becoming an adult, on stopping playing, and who finds Nutcracker the foothold to his childhood. With her fervent imagination of her Marie she will be able to build an enchanted world in which she can play to grow up.
The story unfolds by exploiting the dynamics of the double dream-reality level and the dream narration, aided by the projection of shadows and by Tchaikovsky’s music, drags the spectators into a magical atmosphere in which music and theater complement each other. The pivotal figure of the whole narration turns out to be the godfather Drosselmeier, the real hidden narrator of the whole story.

The show-concert deals with universal and timeless themes such as love, power, the fight of good against evil, presented lightly through the words of a young girl, Marie, who is becoming an adult but who doesn’t want to stop dreaming . Through her eyes, children and adults will once again dream and be enchanted. The concert show is an excellent opportunity to present an entire concert by Tchaikovsky to children in a playful and exciting way. Listening to music, and making children understand the moments in which it was conceived and composed, is a direct approach to link study to fun. In this sense, the production of The Nutcracker’s dream is designed to teach listening from early childhood, through images, emotions, characters and stories. The show-concert is aimed at an audience of families and children aged 4 to 12 but open to people of all ages with great imagination!
