Welcome. This is «Aurora» by the surrealist painter Salvador Dalì, from 1948.

“If an egg is broken by an outside force, life ends. If an egg is broken by an internal force, a life begins. Great things always start from within ».

In the center, a huge egg takes up almost the whole scene. In art, the egg is associated with the representation of life and its cycle and, in the Christian religion, with the rebirth and resurrection of Christ. A simple object that for the artist represents intrauterine life, a life that is reborn from life itself, recalls childhood and is a symbol of love, often recurs in Dalì’s works. It also symbolizes the possibility of becoming something else, of evolving. The egg is split and you can see the yolk that becomes a sun, whose rays illuminate the clouds of the sky and the context of the painting. The sun seems to rise from the sea, heralds a bright day. A bright future is always based on an outdated black past.

There is a battle between yolk and shell, light and darkness. The two halves of the shell are held by large scaffolding, similar to cobwebs that imprison. Above them various characters at work represent those who oppose light, life and work to keep the structures of evil standing.

In your life try to discover the sun that generates new possibilities, that breaks the shells that isolate you and do not allow you to live fully. Who can be the one who helps you break the darkness of evil and death? Dalì’s work instills hope because it suggests that evil is no longer the last word. There is a Sun waiting for your consent to shed light in your life. And not only that, because the sun in addition to illuminating, warms, nourishes, gives you what you need to live and be happy. In the foreground, a man leaves the boat and heads for dry land. He can face the life that awaits him with determination, he has the sun behind him that illuminates and supports him. He is free from the ghosts of the past, alluded to by the sea which in art always has a negative connotation, as it is insidious, changeable, dangerous. The surrealist Dali knows that man carries the worst ghosts inside, and often has to wage a titanic struggle against them. The present is much more a child of the past than of the future. Ghosts are constantly resurrecting and will not allow you to live. Sometimes the years go by and you get stuck in your past. A negative image you have of yourself that comes from the early years of life can be harmful to a satisfying existence. It is terrible to live with the feeling of not being loved. Sometimes you live with the anguish that others see only the ugliness in you and this look is unbearable. This anxiety sometimes pushes you to escape into a false world, made up of dreams and fantasies, because it is more comfortable. But when you go back to the real world it’s hell, you feel frustrated, rejected, excluded. I believe that some forms of diseases common today are a defense against this anguish. To get out of all this, you need an outstretched hand, a look, a face. In other words, a Sun that helps you regain confidence, esteem, a positive image of yourself and that whispers in your ear: “You are precious in my eyes, because you are worthy of esteem and I love you. Do not remember the past things anymore, do not think about the ancient things anymore! Here, I am doing something new: right now it sprouts, don’t you notice? I will also open a road in the desert, I will lead rivers into the steppe. I am the Lord, apart from me there is no savior “. Benvenuto. Ti presento «Aurora» del pittore surrealista Salvador Dalì, del 1948.

«Se un uovo viene rotto da una forza esterna, la vita finisce. Se un uovo viene rotto da una forza interna, una vita inizia. Le grandi cose iniziano sempre da dentro».

Al centro un enorme uovo occupa quasi tutta la scena. Nell’arte l’uovo viene associato alla rappresentazione della vita e del suo ciclo e, nella religione cristiana alla rinascita e resurrezione di Cristo. Nelle opere di Dalì ricorre spesso, oggetto semplice che per l’artista rappresenta la vita intrauterina, vita che rinasce dalla vita stessa, richiama l’infanzia ed è simbolo di amore. Inoltre simboleggia la possibilità di diventare qualcos’altro, di evolversi. L’uovo è spaccato e si vede il tuorlo che diventa un sole, i cui raggi rischiarano le nuvole del cielo e il contesto del dipinto. Il sole sembra sorgere dal mare, preannuncia una giornata luminosa. Un futuro luminoso si basa sempre su un passato nero superato.

C’è una battaglia tra tuorlo e guscio, luce e tenebre. Le due metà del guscio sono tenute da grosse impalcature, simili a ragnatele che imprigionano. Sopra di esse vari personaggi al lavoro rappresentano chi si oppone alla luce, alla vita e opera per tenere in piedi le strutture di male.

Nella tua vita prova a scoprire il sole che genera nuove possibilità, che spacca i gusci che ti isolano e non ti permettono di vivere in pienezza. Chi può essere colui che ti aiuta a spezzare le tenebre del male e della morte? L’opera di Dalì infonde speranza perché ti suggerisce che il male non è più l’ultima parola. C’è un Sole che aspetta il tuo consenso per spargere luce nella tua vita. E non solo, perchè il sole oltre a illuminare, riscalda, nutre, ti dona ciò che necessiti per vivere ed essere felice. In primo piano un uomo lascia la barca e si avvia verso la terra ferma. Può affrontare la vita che lo attende con determinazione, ha il sole alle spalle che lo illumina e sostiene. È libero dai fantasmi del passato, allusi dal mare che nell’arte ha sempre una connotazione negativa, in quanto insidioso, mutevole, pericoloso. Il surrealista Dalì sa che i peggiori fantasmi l’uomo li porta dentro, e spesso deve intraprendere una lotta titanica contro di essi. Il presente è molto più figlio del passato che del futuro. I fantasmi risorgono continuamente e non ti permettono di vivere. A volte passano gli anni e rimani invischiato nel tuo passato. Un immagine negativa che hai di te che viene dai primi anni della vita può essere nociva per un’esistenza soddisfacente. È terribile vivere con la sensazione di non essere amati. Talvolta vivi con l’angoscia che gli altri vedano solo il brutto che c’è in te e questo sguardo è insopportabile. Quest’ansia a volte ti spinge a fuggire in un mondo falso, fatto di sogni e fantasie, perché è più confortevole. Ma quando ritorni nel mondo reale è un inferno, ti senti frustrato, rifiutato, escluso. Credo che alcune forme di malattie diffuse oggi siano una difesa da questa angoscia. Per uscire da tutto questo c’è bisogno di una mano tesa, uno sguardo, un volto. In altre parole un Sole che ti aiuti a ritrovare fiducia, stima, un’immagine positiva di te stessa e che ti sussurri all’orecchio: «Tu sei prezioso ai miei occhi, perché sei degno di stima e io ti amo. Non ricordate più le cose passate, non pensate più alle cose antiche! Ecco, faccio una cosa nuova: proprio ora germoglia, non ve ne accorgete? Aprirò anche nel deserto una strada, immetterò fiumi nella steppa. Io sono il Signore, fuori di me non v’è salvatore». Nel fondo al cuore, più in fondo di ogni ferita, tutti abbiamo un bambino che cerca tenerezza e attenzione. A te il compito decisivo di cercare il Sole che colmi questo bisogno vitale!
